Tide rolling to start
Alabama has been quite impressive in its first two games, beating Duke and New Mexico State by a combined score of 104-13. The Tide still are just 1-1 against the spread and 1-1 with the over/under total.
Bama is averaging 557.5 yards per game on offense thus far through two games while holding opponents to just 233 total yards per contest. Tua Tagovailoa has thrown for 563 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 76 percent of his passes to start the year. Jerry Jeudy is his top receiver with 18 catches for 240 yards and four touchdowns. Bama has had a back-by-committee effort as five different players have over 65 rushing yards. Najee Harris is leading the way with 120 yards and a touchdown.
South Carolina bounces back
After a tough loss against North Carolina to open the season, South Carolina was able to bounce back last week with a 72-10 victory over Charleston Southern. The Gamecocks are also 1-1 against the spread and 1-1 with the over/under total.
Through two games, South Carolina is averaging 46 points and 522.5 yards per game on offense while giving up 17 points and 375 yards per contest on defense. South Carolina lost starting quarterback Jake Bentley for the season to a foot injury but Ryan Hilinski has been promising, throwing for 282 yards and two touchdowns on 24 of 30 passing. Four different Gamecocks are already over 115 rushing yards. Kevin Harris has 147 yards and three touchdowns on just six carries. Bryan Edwards is leading the receivers with 119 yards and two scores on six receptions.
College Football Betting Trends
Alabama
The Crimson Tide have hit the over in eight of their last nine games in September and they are 4-1-1 with the over in their last six following a win.
South Carolina
The Gamecocks are 19-7 with the under in their last 26 games following a win and 18-8 with the under in their last 26 SEC games.
Prediction:
These two have hit the over in four of their last six meetings, including their last three encounters at SC. However, they haven’t played since 2010. Alabama is a much different team now. The Tide are dominant defensively and should be able to contain this SC offense, especially with a second-string QB. SC struggled to move consistently on North Carolina, so it will only be tougher against Bama. The Tide should continue to pile up points, but not quite at the clip that will be fast enough to hit an over. I see about another 45-10 victory for the Tide.
