BC dominant against weak opponents
Boston College is off to a great start, dominating a pair of weak opponents. The Eagles beat UMass 55-21 and then beat Holy Cross 62-14. The Eagles have covered the spread in both wins and hit the over in both games. They are 4-0-1 with the over in their last five games.
Through the two games, Boston College is putting up an impressive 58.5 points and 604 yards per game. Their run game has been dominant, averaging 318.5 yards per game thus far. AJ Dillon is leading the charge with 247 yards and three scores on 26 carries while four others have 50 yards or more. Anthony Brown has thrown for 322 yards and four touchdowns in limited action due to the lopsided wins. Defensively, BC is giving up just 17.5 points and 255 yards per game.
Demon Deacons off to 2-0 start
Wake Forest is off to a 2-0 start as well thanks to an OT win over Tulane in the opener and a 51-20 win at home last week over Townson. The Demon Deacons have failed to cover in both games and are 1-1 with the over/under total.
Offensively, Wake Forest is putting up some big numbers early, averaging 37.0 points and 557 yards per game. Quarterback Sam Hartman has thrown for 620 yards and four touchdowns this year, but also has three interceptions. The team has two receivers with over 200 yards through two games. On the ground, Hartman has rushed for 128 yards while Cade Carney has 184 rushing yards and two scores on 35 carries. Defensively, Wake Forest is allowing 18.5 points and 423 yards per game. Their pass defense is allowing 313 yards per contest.
College Football Betting Trends
Boston College
Boston College has hit the under in four straight Thursday games and in nine of their last 13 games in September.
Wake Forest
Wake Forest is 5-1 with the over in its last six against a team with a winning record, but 7-3 with the under in its last 10 games following a win.
Prediction:
These two have hit the under in eight straight meetings and I think it goes again today. While both offenses are putting up big points early, that is against really poor defensive teams. BC isn’t a team build to score much and it won’t now that it is facing an ACC opponents. Wake is going to struggle with this Boston College defense, which is typically pretty strong. I don’t see either team having enough consistent offense to make this over hit.
College Football Prediction: Boston College/Wake Forest Under 52.5
