Maryland looking dominant
The Maryland football team has looked as good as anyone through two games, as the Terrapins have beaten Howard and Syracuse by a combined score of 142-20. The Terps are 2-0 against the spread while going over in both games.
The Terrapins are averaging 71 points and 636.5 yards per game on offense so far through two games while the Terps are giving up just 10 points and 234 yards per contest. Quarterback Josh Jackson has thrown for 541 yards and seven touchdowns. Jake Funk is leading the ground game with 173 yards and two touchdowns while Dontay Demus Jr. has six catches for 125 yards and two scores. Keandre Jones is leading the defense with 12 tackles and 3.5 sacks.
Temple opens with win
Temple had last weekend off, but opened its season with a 56-12 win over Bucknell. The Owls were able to cover as a 41.5-point favorite while going over the 53.5-point total.
The Owls rolled in the opener, putting up 695 yards of total offense while holding Bucknell to 211 yards. Quarterback Anthony Russo threw for 409 yards and four touchdowns, while Temple finished with 507 passing yards. Branden Mack had nine receptions for 130 yards to lead that group while Re’Mahn Davis was the leading rusher with 60 yards on nine carries.
College Football Betting Trends
The Terrapins are 4-0-1 with the under in their last five against AAC opponents and 5-2 with the under in their last seven games following a cover.
Temple has hit the under in eight of its last 10 against Big Ten opponents and 7-2 with the under in its last nine games in September.
A new coaching staff and a healthy quarterback has helped Maryland look really impressive on offense thus far in 2019. The Owls had a strong offensive showing in their opener as well. The two teams may cancel themselves out a little bit, but I still expect a lot of offense in this game. Maryland looks really explosive and their defense will get its best test yet. Temple has a strong passing game, but its defense is likely to be overwhelmed by the Terps.
College Football Week 3 Prediction: Maryland/Temple Over 64
