Kansas falls to Coastal Carolina
Kansas’ hopes to start 2-0 under new coach Les Miles were dashes this weekend in a 12-7 loss at home to Coastal Carolina. The Jayhawks are 1-1 overall, 0-2 against the spread and 2-0 with the under in 2019.
The Jayhawks certainly aren’t creating any fears on offense thus far, averaging just 15.5 points and 312 yards per game against two pretty weak opponents. Defensively, Kansas is playing pretty well. The Jayhawks are allowing just 14.5 points and 328 yards per game so far. Quarterback Carter Stanley has thrown for 348 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions through two games while Khalil Herbert is the leading rusher with 170 yards and a touchdown. Andrew Parchment has 11 catches for 135 yards to lead the receivers.
BC lights up Richmond
Boston College is off to a 2-0 start after beating up on Richmond this weekend, 45-13. The Eagles were a 33.5-point favorite, so they failed to cover, but they had covered in their opener as an underdog against Virginia Tech in Week 1. BC has hit the over in both games.
Usually known for defense, Boston College is off to a hot start on offense this year. The Eagles are putting up 40 points and 475 yards per game thus far while giving up 20.5 points and 403 yards per game on defense. The BC ground attack already has three players with over 110 yards. AJ Dillon is leading the way with 167 yards and three scores. Anthony Brown has thrown for 438 yards and five touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Kansas
Kansas has hit the under in five straight games on fieldturf and in 23 of their last 34 road games.
Boston College
Boston College has hit the over in six of its last seven non-conference games and in eight of its last 10 at home.
Prediction:
Kansas has had two very low-scoring games with the likes of Indiana State and Coastal Carolina. I can’t see the Jayhawks having an offensive explosion against Boston College, a team that usually is a defensive power. BC has looked good on offense thus far in 2019, but the Eagles aren’t a team that is going to really light up the scoreboard most weeks. Kansas may actually have a respectable defense that can get some stops. It’s hard to say. Even if the Jayhawks struggle in this game, I don’t see BC putting up about 45 points, which it may need to do to hit the over.
