Georgia vs. Notre Dame Pick
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Notre Dame is favored at home in this game, as the Fighting Irish are getting odds of -5 points against the Bulldogs. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 58 points. These two have no recent meetings. Tonight’s game will take place from Notre Dame Stadium in Notre Dame, Indiana. It will air live on NBC.
Georgia opened the season with a 31-10 win over Appalachian State last weekend, covering the 12.5-point spread in the process. The win was somewhat somber for Georgia, as quarterback Jacob Eason suffered an ankle injury early in the contest and he is now out indefinitely. Jake Fromm took over for Eason, throwing for 143 yards on 10-of-15 passing with one touchdown. Nick Chubb led the offense with 96 rushing yards and two touchdowns while Sony Michel had 87 yards and a score. Defensively, Georgia was able to hold Appalachian State to just 284 total yards.
Notre Dame started its 2017 season with an impressive 49-16 win over Temple at home last week, covering a 19-point spread in the process. The Irish racked up 606 yards of offense while holding Temple to just 330 total yards. On the ground, Notre Dame had a 422-85 edge. New quarterback Brandon Wimbush threw for 184 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 106 yards and a score. Josh Adams rushed for 161 yards and two touchdowns while Dexter Williams had 124 yards on just six carries.
The big question for tonight is if Notre Dame will be able to run the ball on this Georgia defense like it did a week ago against Temple. Also, how will the Bulldogs’ offense fare against this Notre Dame defense with Fromm under center. Surprisingly, Georgia is just 1-6 against the spread in their last seven games after a win. Notre Dame impressed me last week. Temple is usually not a pushover and the Irish ran the Owls over. I think the Irish will be able to maintain some momentum from that at home and do enough to get the win and cover today.
