App State vs. Clemson Odds
No. 12 Clemson looks to avoid a big upset from a team that knows how to pull them off when the Tigers host Appalachian State on Saturday at 12:30PM ET on ESPN3.
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Clemson is the clear favorite at home in this game, as the Tigers are getting odds of -17 points against Appalachian State. The over/under total for the contest is currently listed at 58.5 points. These two last met in 1997 when Clemson picked up a 23-12 win at home. The Tigers come into this game having covered the spread in five straight September games.
Clemson started the season last week with a 49-10 win over Wofford at home, covering a 34-point spread while hitting the over of 57 points. The Tigers outgained Wofford 533-213 in the win and the Tigers held Wofford to just 90 passing yards. Deshaun Watson began his Heisman campaign by throwing for 194 yards and two touchdowns in limited action. Wayne Gallman led the ground attack with 92 yards and two touchdowns. One negative in the win was a neck injury to receiver Mike Williams, who injured his neck when he collided with the field goal post while catching a touchdown pass. He is out indefinitely due to the collision.
Appalachian State started its 2015 season with a 49-0 win over Howard at home, covering a 33-point spread while going under the 60.5 total. App State racked up 663 total yards in the win, including 390 rushing yards. Howard was held to just 172 total yards and 36 yards on the ground. Taylor Lamb threw for 209 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 41 yards to lead the offense while Marcus Cox led the ground attack with 101 yards on 11 carries. App State had five different players with at least 40 rushing yards in the victory.
