According to oddsmakers at, Ohio State is the heavy favorite in this game, as the Buckeyes are getting odds of -35 points against Rutgers. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 63 points. The public betting for this game currently has 80 percent going on Ohio State at home. Ohio State hammers Oregon State

Ohio State played its first of three games without Urban Meyer on the sideline last weekend when they beat Oregon State, 77-31. The Buckeyes covered a 40-point spread in the win and went over the 62-point total on their own. Ohio State has won six straight games as a program and covered the spread in its last three.

The Buckeyes looked unstoppable on offense in the win, racking up 721 yards in total behind 375 rushing yards and 346 passing yards. Quarterback Dwayne Haskins threw for 313 yards and five touchdowns on 22 of 30 passing in his first start. Mike Weber rushed for a career-high 186 yards on 20 carries while J.K. Dobbins added 74 rushing yards on 15 carries. Defensively, the Buckeyes did give up nearly 400 yards to Oregon State, including almost 200 rushing yards.

Rutgers earns impressive win

Rutgers had a pretty impressive win its opener, defeating Texas State at home, 35-7. The Scarlet Knights covered a 16.5-point spread and went under the 48-point total. Rutgers snapped a three-game losing streak in the win and they covered for the sixth time in eight games.

The Knights were dominant in their victory last weekend as they put up 423 yards of offense while holding Texas State to just 176 total yards. The only rough spot for Rutgers was turnovers, as they committed four in the win. Quarterback Artur Sitkowski threw for 205 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions in the win while three different backs rushed for over 60 yards. Rutgers finished with 218 rushing yards on 46 carries.

College Football Betting Trends

Ohio State

Ohio State has covered the spread in four straight after amassing more than 450 yards in their previous game. They have also covered in four straight against Rutgers.

Rutgers has covered the spread in its last six games following a win and in four of their last five road games.

Ohio State has absolutely owned Rutgers. That have won by a combined score of 114-0 in the last two meetings and allowed just 21 total points to the Scarlet Knights in four meetings. Ohio State’s offense is far too powerful for Rutgers to stop and I don’t see the Knights being able to keep any kind of pace with them. Rutgers won’t have the offense to score consistently on the Buckeyes.
