Mississippi State Bulldogs
Mississippi State redshirt senior QB Nick Fitzgerald has been reinstated after serving a one-game suspension. Fitzgerald (6'5/230) sat out the team's opener against Stephen F. Austin as punishment for an undisclosed violation of team rules which occurred in March. While Keytaon Thompson started in his place on Saturday and put up nice numbers as both a passer and a runner, Fitzgerald is expected to resume starting duties now that he's been reinstated. Mississippi State tangoes with Kansas State on Saturday.
Kansas State Wildcats
Kansas State HC Bill Snyder said that junior WR Isaiah Harris (undisclosed) should be able to play in this coming weekend's date with Mississippi State. Harris (5'8/166) was unable to take the field in K-State's uncomfortably close win over South Dakota on Saturday, but sounds like he's past his health concern, now. He's not an integral cog in the Kansas State offense, having caught a total of just 15 passes through the first two years of his career in Manhattan.
The Bulldogs have covered the spread in five of their last six non-conference games.
The Wildcats are 4-0-1 against the spread in their last five games coming off an ATS loss.
The Wildcats have historically had great success under Bill Snyder when listed as a home dog. In fact, the last five times that Snyder has been a home dog of at least eight points, the Wildcats covered all five games, with four being one score results. That said, I just can’t buy into the ‘Cats today. Mississippi State gets Fitzgerald back and Joe Moorhead’s offense will be too much for Kansas State’s defense in the end. This Wildcats team needed a key punt return for a touchdown last week just to beat South Dakota at home. I understand the line movement for this game indicates sharp action but I’m laying the points on the SEC team against an average Big 12 team with problems on offense.
