Terps put up 79 points
Maryland opened the season with a 79-0 win over Howard at home on Saturday. The Terrapins were 30-point favorites at home while going over the 65.5-point total on their own.
The Terrapins dominated every aspect of the game with Howard, out-gaining them 623-68. It kind of felt unnecessary for the score to reach the amount it did. Quarterback Josh Jackson threw for 245 yards and four touchdowns while Dontay Demus Jr. caught three passes for 100 yards and two touchdowns. Jake Funk and Tayon Fleet-Davis each rushed for 79 yards to lead the ground attack.
Cuse blanks Liberty
Syracuse kicked off its 2019 season with a 24-0 win over Liberty last weekend. The Orange were a 19.5-point favorite in the game, covering the spread while going well under the 69-point total.
The Orange didn’t overwhelm Liberty in the win, posting just 368 yards of offense. However, the defense did control the game. The Orange held Liberty to 234 total yards, including -4 rushing yards. Moe Neal led the way with 89 rushing yards and a touchdown while also catching threw passes for 54 yards. Quarterback Tommy DeVito threw for 176 yards on 17 of 35 passing with no touchdowns and two interceptions.

Maryland
The Terps have covered in five of their last six home games and in five of their last seven non-conference games.
Syracuse
The Orange are 9-1-1 ATS in their last 11 games on fieldturf and 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight non-conference games.
Prediction:
Syracuse opened as a slight favorite, but the spread has been on the move throughout the week. Both teams played weak opponents last week, so this game will be more of a test. Maryland has been able to shine in big non-conference games in recent years, so I think the oddsmakers know something. Syracuse has the ranking, but the Terps are at home and do have a healthy QB for a chance. Maryland hasn’t had a chance to really test its potential due to injuries in recent years. When healthy, these guys have been able to beat Texas twice. I will roll the dice on Maryland getting another big non-conference win.
College Football Week 2 Prediction: Maryland -1.5
