Washington looks sharp in opener
The Washington Huskies opened the season with a 47-14 win over Eastern Washington last week. Washington was able to easily cover a 24-point spread while going over the 56.5-point total.
Washington dominated on both sides of the ball, putting up 570 yards of offense while holding EWU to just 274 yards. In his first start with the team, Jacob Eason looked great for the Huskies. He threw for 349 yards and four touchdowns on 27 of 36 passing. He spread the ball out well, as three different receivers had over 70 yards. Richard Newton led the ground attack with 91 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Benning Potoa’e led the Washington defense with two sacks.
Cal not overly impressive in win
California opened the season at home last weekend, earning a 27-13 win over UC-Davis. The Golden Bears failed to cover as a 15.5-point favorite while going under the 48-point total.
The Bears outgained UC-Davis 471-264 in the victory, but Cal committed four turnovers to keep the Aggies in the contest. Christopher Brown Jr. led the offense with 197 rushing yards and a touchdown on 36 carries. Chase Garbers threw for 238 yards and two touchdowns while going 16 of 28 passing. Kekoa Crawford was the leading receiver with 84 yards and two touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Washington
The Huskies are 2-7 ATS in their last nine conference games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven following a win.
California
The Golden Bears are 5-1 against the spread in their last six conference games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight road games.
Prediction:
Not much respect is being given to Washington at home tonight. The Huskies are less than a two-touchdown favorite against a Cal team that didn’t look too impressive against UC-Davis. The Huskies obviously had a cake walk for an opener, but I think Washington can be really dangerous with Eason running the offense. Washington is already pretty up to par on defense, but if its offense can turn the corner, the Huskies are going to be tough to beat.
