Oklahoma vs. Ohio State Total Pick

College Football Picks: Will Oklahoma vs. Ohio State go over 64.5? 9/7/17

Will the big battle between No. 2 Ohio State and No. 5 Oklahoma be an offensive or defensive showcase when they collide Saturday at 7:30PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Ohio State is favored at home, as the Buckeyes are getting odds of -7.5 points against Oklahoma. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 64.5 points. These two met last year in Oklahoma, with the Buckeyes getting a 45-24 win. The two easily went over the 58.5-point total. Saturday’s game takes place from Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. It will air live on ABC.

Oklahoma opened the Lincoln Riley-era with a 56-7 win at home over UTEP last weekend. The Sooners went over the 62.5-point total in the victory. Oklahoma dominated all aspects of the win, as the Sooners posted 676 yards of offense while allowing just 167 to UTEP. Baker Mayfield threw for 329 yards and three touchdowns on 19-of-20 passing. Mark Andrews caught seven passes for 134 yards and a touchdown while the team rushed for 180 yards.

Ohio State opened up the season with Big Ten play, picking up a 49-21 win at Indiana. The Buckeyes went over the 55-point total in the win. Ohio State trailed 14-13 at halftime, but broke through in the second half of the contest. OSU put up 596 yards in the win while allowing 437 yards to Indiana, 420 of which came against the pass. Freshman J.K. Dobbins rushed for 181 yards to lead the offense with Mike Weber battling a hamstring injury. J.T. Barrett threw for 304 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 61 yards and a score. Parris Campbell caught six passes for 136 yards and a touchdown as well.

Bet on Oklahoma vs. Ohio State

This is a tough game to call. Ohio State has a defense I can see giving Oklahoma problems, but the Sooners look like they could be better this year than in 2016. Will Oklahoma’s defense be able to slow down the Ohio State offense? That seems to be less likely. The two managed to go over the total in Norman a year ago and Oklahoma is 14-6-1 with the over in its last 21 road games. I’ll take my chances on the over hitting again on Saturday.
