Connecticut beat down by UCF
The Connecticut football team continued where it left off last season by suffering a 56-17 loss at home to Central Florida. The Huskies have lost six straight as a program and they failed to cover the 24-point spread in the loss. They went over the 70-point total due to their poor defensive effort.
The Huskies couldn’t stop the Knights in the loss, giving up 652 total yards of offense in last week’s loss. They allowed 356 passing yards and 296 rushing yards. On offense, UConn put up 486 yards, but had three turnovers. David Pindell showed some impressive play for the Huskies, throwing for 266 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 157 yards and another score. Receiver Kyle Buss caught seven passes for 113 yards as well.
Boise State hammers Troy
Boise State went on the road and picked up a solid 56-20 win at Troy last weekend the Broncos were a 9-point favorite coming in and easily covered the spread while going over the 48.5-point total on their own. The Broncos have won three straight games as a program.
While the defense gave up nearly 400 yards to Troy, the Broncos forced four turnovers in the win last weekend. On offense, Boise State put up 416 total yards, including 305 passing yards. Brett Rypien threw for 305 yards and four touchdowns in the win for Boise while Sean Modster caught seven passes for 167 yards and two scores.
College Football Betting Trends
Connecticut
UConn is 5-20-2 against the spread in its last 27 games in September and 10-25-1 ATS in its last 36 road games.
Boise State
Boise State has covered the spread in five of its last six non-conference games. However, they are just 3-13 ATS in their last 16 home games.
Prediction:
In their last meeting back in 2014, Boise State won 38-21 as a 14.5-point favorite. The spread is pretty big this week, but I think the Broncos can handle it. UConn is a terrible defensive team, so the Broncos should be able to move the ball and put up a high number. I don’t think the Broncos will give up much on defense given how well they played at Troy last week. Connecticut is making a long road trip for this game and I think the Huskies will just have an ugly showing.
College Football Prediction: Boise State -31
