Cincinnati started the season with a 26-14 win over Austin Peay. The Bearcats went under the total of 57 points. Cincinnati didn’t get much offense in the win, as they were held to just 248 total yards. The defense held first and held the Governors to just 313 yards total and only 89 passing yards. Mike Boon led the Bearcats in the win by rushing for 100 yards on 19 carries with one touchdown. Hayden Moore had 151 passing yards with three touchdowns.
Michigan is coming off a 33-17 win over Florida last Saturday. The Wolverines hit the over of 45.5 points in the process. Michigan’s offense didn’t help the defense much, as a pair of pick-six’s allowed Florida to stay in the game. However, the U-M defense was quite dominant throughout, holding Florida to just 192 total yards. They also forced three turnovers and had six sacks. Devin Bush led the team with seven tackles and two sacks. Ty Isaac led the offense with 114 rushing yards while Wilton Speight finished with 181 passing yards and a touchdown, but had the two interceptions.
Bet on Cincinnati vs. Michigan
Despite losing 10 starters on defense, Michigan still managed to look like a top-level unit last weekend against Florida. While the Gators have offensive issues, the poor performance seems like it’s more a credit to Michigan’s talent. The Wolverines should be able to dominate this poor Cincinnati offense as well considering how little it did against Austin Peay. That means Michigan is going to have to score a lot for the over to hit. Michigan should be able to run the ball well, but they also need to see if Speight can improve in the pass game. I am not sure he will. Michigan may work in another quarterback and I don’t see that resulting in a high total. You can’t count on the Wolverines handing another pair of touchdowns to the opposing defense.
