Tulane runs over FIU
The Tulane football team had an impressive opener last Thursday night when it picked up a 42-14 win over Florida International. The Green Wave were a 3-point favorite at home in the game, easily covering. Tule also went under the 58.5-point total.
Tulane was solid on both sides of the football in the win, posting 545 total yards of offense while holding FIU to just 267 total yards and 59 rushing yards. The Green Wave were led by Justin McMillan, who threw for 199 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 51 yards and a score. Darius Bradwell rushed for 90 yards to lead the way while Corey Dauphine had 76 yards rushing and two scores on just three carries. Darnell Mooney led the receivers with four catches for 84 yards and a touchdown.
Auburn rallies to beat Oregon
Despite a 15-point second-half deficit, Auburn was able to rally to best Oregon last week in Arlington for a 27-21 victory. The Tigers were able to cover the 4-point spread in the win while going under the 55-point total.
The Tigers remained solid on defense despite the early deficit against Oregon. Auburn held the Ducks to just 332 total yards and 90 rushing yards. Offensively, Auburn put up 383 total yards and 206 rushing yards in the victory. Freshman quarterback Bo Nix threw for 177 yards and two touchdowns, but was just 13 of 31 passing. He did also rush for 42 yards. JaTarvious Whitlow led the ground game with 110 yards on 24 carries while Jeremiah Dinson led the Auburn defense with 13 tackles, a sack and two tackles for loss.
College Football Betting Trends
Tulane
The Green Wave have hit the under in six straight against SEC opponents and in five of their last seven road games.
Auburn
The Tigers have hit the under in 10 of their last 14 home games and in 12 of their last 17 games on grass.
Prediction:
Auburn is going to have the speed and talent edge on Tulane, but the total seems quite low here. The Tigers should be able to improve on offense in Nix’ second game. I don’t believe the Tulane defense is as good as it played against FIU. The Green Wave offense also probably isn’t as good either, but I think they still have the ability to score against Auburn a few times. The Tigers weren’t a dominant defense last year and I think Oregon just let the scene get to it a little bit last weekend.
College Football Week 2 Prediction: Tulane/Auburn Over 51.5
