Penn State Nittany Lions Game Notes
Penn State QB Sean Clifford isn’t lacking in confidence ahead of the season opener against Wisconsin. Last season was a bit more up-and-down than some analysts may have expected for Clifford (6’2/214), but he seems more than ready to bounce back. Take it from the signal-caller himself. “I can really say I’m the most confident quarterback in the country,” he said. “So I’m excited to get after those boys in Madison.” Clifford completed 152-of-251 passing attempts for 1,883 yards with 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He finished out last year’s finale, a 56-21 win over Illinois, with 16-of-22 completed passing attempts for 285 yards with two touchdowns.
Wisconsin Badgers Game Notes
Former Wisconsin freshman Loyal Crawford reportedly armed himself with a knife in altercation with Antwan Roberts. The Crawford-Roberts saga takes another twist. UW-Madison police reported that during the physical altercation between Crawford and Roberts, Crawford armed himself with a knife. Only minor injuries were sustained, and none involved the knife. Crawford was cited for disorderly conduct and disorderly conduct while armed. Crawford was dismissed and Roberts was suspended indefinitely. Crawford has since taken to Twitter and claimed he was acting only in self-defense and that UW was treating him unfairly. UW is yet to respond.
