Aggies lit up by Washington State
New Mexico State opened up its season by suffering a 58-7 loss at Washington State last Saturday. The Aggies were a 33-point underdog and didn’t come close to a cover, but did go under the 65.5-point total.
The Aggies gave up 618 yards of offense, including 507 passing yards, to the Cougars in last weekend’s loss. New Mexico State had just 317 yards of offense itself while committing three turnovers. Quarterback Josh Adkins threw for 221 yards on 28 of 42 passing with two interceptions and no touchdowns. Jason Huntley was the leading rusher with 57 yards on nine carries.
Bama starts slow, but rolls past Duke
Alabama overcame a slow start due to some suspensions, but eventually found its footing in a 42-3 win over Duke in Atlanta. The Crimson Tide covered a 33.5-point spread while going under a 57.5-point total.
The Bama offense put up 512 total yards in the win over Duke while holding the Blue Devils to just 204 total yards and creating three turnovers. Tua Tagovailoa threw for 336 yards and four touchdowns on 26 of 31 passing. Receiver Jerry Jeudy caught 10 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown while Jerome Ford was the leading rusher with 64 yards on 10 carries and a score.

Prediction:
This is obviously a mismatch, but the question is how many points will Alabama score. The Tide have the ability to put up about 80 on this team, but I sense the Tide will put an emphasis on establishing the ground attack this week after struggling to run the ball efficiently against Duke. New Mexico State may not move the ball at all against this defense. It struggled against Washington State and Alabama is far better defensively than the Cougars. I don’t see any pity touchdowns coming either. Bama should get into the 50-point range, but I don’t think they will run up the score to hit the over on their own.
College Football Week 2 Prediction: New Mexico State/Alabama Under 64.5
