LSU rolls over Georgia Southern
The LSU Tigers opened their season by dominating Georgia Southern at home, 55-3. LSU easily covered a 27-point spread in the win while going over the 51-point total on their own.
LSU won every aspect of the opener, as it put up 472 yards of offense while holding Georgia Southern to just 98 total yards and only 24 passing yards. Joe Burrow had a very promising outing at QB, throwing for 278 yards and five touchdowns on 23 of 27 passing. Justin Jefferson caught five passes for 87 yards and a touchdown to lead the receivers while Clyde Edwards-Helaire led the ground game with 45 yards and a score.
Texas cruises vs. Tech
The Texas Longhorns got off to a 1-0 start to the season last Saturday with a 45-14 win over Louisiana Tech at home. The Longhorns were able to cover the 19-point spread while going over the 55.5-point total.
Texas put up 454 yards in the win, yet managed to give up 413 to Louisiana Tech despite the large margin of victory. The Texas defense did create three turnovers, though. Quarterback Sam Ehlinger led the team with 276 passing yards and four touchdowns while also rushing for 34 yards. Brennan Eagles led the receivers with a pair of touchdown catches while Keaontay Ingram led the ground game with 78 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.
College Football Betting Trends
LSU
LSU is 3-0-1 with the over in its last four non-conference games and 6-2 with the over in its last eight against a winning team.
Texas
The Longhorns are 23-5 with the under in their last 28 games following a cover and 6-2 with the under in their last eight games in September.
Prediction:
The total seems low for two teams that combined for 100 points last weekend. LSU has a great defense for the most part, but I do believe that Texas is still going to put up points at home. Ehlinger showed a lot in the opener and he can find some holes in this defense. The Texas defense didn’t give up a ton of points to Tech, but the Longhorns still gave up a lot of yards and has a questionable secondary. LSU is improving on its pass game and still has a capable ground attack. I would expect LSU to be able to do well offensively and these two hit the over.
