Wisconsin vs. Alabama Odds
No. 3 Alabama looks to start the season with an impressive win on Saturday when it faces No. 20 Wisconsin at 8PM ET on ABC from AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
According to oddsmakers at GTBets, Alabama is favored in this contest, as the Crimson Tide are getting odds of -12 points against Wisconsin. The over/under total for the game has been set at 51 points. These two have no recent meetings to go off of.
Alabama is coming off a 12-2 record in 2014 in which it won the SEC Championship with a 7-1 conference mark. The Tide were just 5-9 against the spread last year while going 7-6 with the over. Alabama enters this game having covered the spread in 13 of its last 17 at a neutral site. Nick Saban is in his ninth season as head coach of Alabama. He is 86-17 in that time with a 50-11 SEC mark. While Alabama is working in a new starting quarterback, the team should be solid up front and has another stud running back in Derrick Henry, who rushed for 990 yards and 11 touchdowns last season while splitting time with T.J. Yeldon.
Wisconsin was 11-3 last season and 7-1 in the Big Ten West. The Badgers were 6-8 against the spread and 8-5-1 with the over in 2014. Wisconsin is 3-0-1 with the over in its last four games at a neutral site. After two seasons as head coach of Wisconsin, Gary Andersen made a surprising jump to Oregon State, which opened the door for former assistant Paul Chryst to take over. He was at Pittsburgh for three years, going 19-19 in his time with the Panthers. Chryst’s big challenge is to replace the 2,587 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns left behind by Melvin Gordon. Wisconsin thinks it may be able to get close to that with Corey Clement, a junior that rushed for 949 yards and nine touchdowns in 2014.
