Appalachian State vs. Georgia Pick
Will Saturday's matchup between Appalachian State and Georgia be a defensive struggle at 6:15PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Bulldogs are 14.5-point home favorites to knock off the Mountaineers, while the over/under currently sits at 45.5 points. As of this writing, neither the point spread nor the betting total have moved off the original number.
APPALACHIAN STATE: Quarterback Taylor Lamb is heading home this weekend. The four-year starter is a native of Calhoun, playing a key role in beating Buford 27-24 in the 2011 GHSA AA state championship. “I’m sure he has a chip on his shoulder and showed he could’ve played here,” Georgia senior defensive back Aaron Davis said. “I expect him to go out and try to have the best game of his career.”
GEORGIA: Head coach Kirby Smart said that he has no specific plans to get freshman signal-caller Jake Fromm into Saturday's opener. Fromm will have to wait his turn as Jacob Eason is set to start again this season after playing as a freshman a year ago. Of course, no matter who is under center, the Bulldogs offense will run through running back Nick Chubb.
OUR PREDICTION: The under is 8-3 in the Mountaineers' last 11 non-conference games, is 7-2 in their last nine games in September, and is 4-1 in their last five road games. On the other side, the under has cashed in 11 of the Bulldogs' last 14 home games, is 14-6 in their last 20 games overall, and has hit in four of their last five games in September.
