South Carolina vs. N.C. State Pick
Will Saturday's matchup between South Carolina and N.C. State fall under the betting total at 3:00PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Wolfpack are 5-point favorites versus the Gamecocks after opening as a 4-point underdog. As for the total, the number currently sits at 52.5 after hitting the board at 50.
SOUTH CAROLINA: Jake Bentley won the starting quarterback job for SC and immediately started to receive praise. SEC Nation co-host Marcus Sprears told The State: "I think [South Carolina sophomore QB] Jake Bentley is going to be a stud. I think he’s going to be very good. Coach’s son. Knows the game. Has as a little bit of athletic ability where he can get out of the pocket," Spears said. "Can sling it. And then he’s slinging it to Bryan Edwards. He’s slinging it to Deebo Samuel." Giants quarterback Eli Manning also said that Bentley "threw it well, right up there with the rest of the big names" during a private throwing session at the Manning Passing Academy.
N.C. STATE: Even though the Wolfpack are a massive long shot to make the college football playoff, that didn't stop SEC Network's Cole Cubelic from predicting that N.C. State will accomplish the feat. The Wolfpack are predicted to finish behind Florida State, Clemson and Louisville in the ACC and are not currently ranked in the top-25.
OUR PREDICTION: The under is 4-0-1 in the Gamecocks' last five games in September, is 9-2 in their last 11 games versus ACC opponents, and is 19-9-1 in their last 29 games overall. On the other side, the under is 5-1 in the Wolfpack's last six games overall. I see a defensive struggle on Saturday at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
