Bettors siding with Alabama over FSU
We're days away from the big Week 1 matchup between Alabama and Florida State. Which side are public bettors on?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Crimson Tide are now 7-point favorites to beat the Seminoles for Saturday night's 8:00PM ET matchup in Atlanta. Alabama opened as a 7.5-point favorite but the line has been bet down a half-point at most sports books, although if bettors shop around they'll find the line at 7.5 at some spots.
Our College Football Public Betting Page shows that 57% of public bettors are laying the points on Alabama. This isn't surprising with the way the Crimson Tide waxed USC in the opening weekend of the 2016 college football season. That said, unlike the Trojans last year, the Seminoles are a legitimate national championship contender this upcoming season.
The Crimson Tide has covered the point spread in seven of their last 10 games dating back to last season. The Seminoles are a nice ATS run themselves, covering in four straight games dating back to 2016. Florida State is also a perfect 4-0 against the number in its last four non-conference games and are 7-3 against the number in their last 10 games against the SEC.
As for the total, the over is 4-0-1 in the Crimson Tide's last five games against the ACC and is 20-6-1 in their last 27 neutral site games. On the other side, the over has cashed in four of the Seminoles' last five non-conference games and is 6-0 in their last six neutral site contests.
