Georgia Win Total Prediction
The Georgia Bulldogs have been the biggest threat in the SEC to Alabama in recent years. Will Georgia be able to push the Tide for the best record in the conference once again this year?
Odds
Kirby Smart comes into his fourth season as head coach of the Bulldogs. Last year, Georgia went 11-3 on the season with a 7-1 record in the SEC, losing in the SEC Championship and Sugar Bowl. In 2017, Georgia went 13-2 with a loss in the national championship. According to oddsmakers, Georgia is listed with an over/under of 10.5 wins during the regular season in 2019. The over is listed at -175, while the under is listed at +155.

Offense
Georgia was a pretty strong offense last year, averaging 37.9 points and 466.1 yards per game last season, both of which were top-20 in the nation. The offense returns just five starters this year, but perhaps its most key piece in quarterback Jake Fromm. He threw for 2,749 yards and 30 touchdowns last year with just six interceptions. He also returns the majority of his offensive line, including his entire left side. Also back is leading rusher in D’Andrew Swift, who rushed for 1,049 yards and 10 touchdowns. Fromm will need to find some new top targets, as Georgia lost its top three receiving leaders to the NFL.
Defense
The Georgia defense was also as solid as the offense last year, ranking in the top 15 in the country. The Bulldogs gave up just 19.2 points and 314.3 yards per game. The defense brings back six starters. The pass rush takes a big hit as linebacker D’Andre Walker is gone. He had a team-high 7.5 sacks last year. The next best player had just two. One of the leaders on the unit will be senior safety J.R. Reed, who had 66 tackles and two interceptions. Tyler Clark returns on the defensive line. He is able to plug up the middle and had 31 tackles last year.
Schedule
Georgia opens the season with SEC play, making a road trip to Vanderbilt. The Bulldogs will host Murray State, Arkansas State and Notre Dame in non-conference play while visiting Georgia Tech to end the regular season. In other SEC road game, Georgia heads to Tennessee and Auburn while facing Florida in Jacksonville. The Bulldogs will host South Carolina, Kentucky, Missouri and Texas A&M.
Prediction
Georgia loses a lot from last year’s team, but still has a lot of key pieces, especially on offense. The Bulldogs have a favorable schedule as well, with seven home games and just four true road games. While Notre Dame, Florida and others can pose some challenges, I think the Bulldogs have too much talent, through experience and recruiting, to lose two games in this schedule. Notre Dame won’t be at Georgia’s level and Florida still has a lot to prove in this marquee games against the best of the best.
