Arizona Season Odds
TUCSON, AZ (TheSpread) – The Arizona Wildcats have some big wins under Rich Rodriguez, but have yet to put together a complete season. Will 2015 be the year Arizona goes the distance?
According to oddsmakers at GTBets, Arizona has been given 100/1 odds to win the college football playoffs in the upcoming season. The Wildcats have been given odds of +1200 to win the Pac-12 Championship, while their over/under for wins in 2015 have been set at 7.5.
Rodriguez is entering his fourth year as head coach of Arizona. He comes into this year with a 26-14 overall record with the team and a 15-12 Pac-12 record. After a pair of 8-5 seasons to start his stint there, Arizona showed a little progress last season, going 10-4 overall and 7-2 in the Pac-12. While Arizona lost in the Pac-12 title game to Oregon, it did have a win over the Ducks for the second straight season.
Arizona has an explosive offense that averaged 34.5 points per game and posted 281.8 passing yards and 181.9 rushing yards per game in 2014. While the offense was very strong, the defense gave us 28.2 points per game. What makes the offense impressive is that it was led by a pair of freshman in quarterback Anu Solomon and running back Nick Wilson. Solomon threw for 3,793 yards and 28 touchdowns while Wilson rushed for 1,375 yards and 16 scores. Both are back for their sophomore seasons and they should keep Arizona as one of the top offenses in the nation.
Arizona starts the season with a very manageable non-conference slate, as it hosts UTSA and Northern Arizona while hitting the road to face Nevada. In Pac-12 play, Arizona will host UCLA, Oregon State, Washington State and Utah. The Wildcats hit the road to face Stanford, Colorado, Washington, USC and Arizona State. While they have some tough road games, Arizona gets to avoid Oregon and it hosts UCLA. The Wildcats should certainly be in the Pac-12 title mix this year.
