BYU Season Odds
PROVO, UT (TheSpread) – BYU is always a dangerous opponent in college football, but can the Cougars put together a perfect season and make a run at the national title this season?
According to oddsmakers at GTBets, BYU comes into this season with long odds to win the College Football Playoffs. The Cougars are currently listed at +25000 to win the title.
Bronco Mendenhall has been the coach for the Cougars over the last 10 years, amassing a 90-39 records with the program. BYU is about to enter its fifth season without a conference affiliation, but they are coming off three straight 8-5 records.
The Cougars had a very strong offense in the 2014 season, averaging 37.1 points and 460.5 yards per game, making them one of the better offensive units in the country. However, BYU wasn’t a great defense, allowing 27.5 points per game. BYU had Taysom Hill as its starter last season until he broke his leg, which forced Christian Stewart to take over. Both men are back this season as the two combined for over 3,600 passing yards and 32 touchdown passes. Also back is receiver Mitch Mathews, who had 73 receptions for 922 yards and nine scores.
BYU has another very competitive schedule in 2015, as the Cougars open the season at Nebraska and then host Boise State on Sept. 12. BYU will also be hosting the likes of Connecticut, Cincinnati, Missouri and Fresno State while making road trips to Michigan, UCLA and Utah State. While the schedule isn’t a gauntlet of superpowers, it will still be tough to see BYU running the table.
