2019 Heisman Winner Odds

Heisman Trophy Odds 4/8/19, Tua Tagovailoa favored over Trevor Lawrence

Many expected Tua Tagovailoa to run away with the Heisman Trophy last season, only to see him lose it to Kyler Murray. Is Tua going to be able to claim the title for the 2019 season?

According to oddsmakers at BetNow.eu, the Tua Tagovailoa is the favorite coming into the 2019 season, as he is getting +275 odds to win. Other short odds to win are Trevor Lawrence (+350), Justin Fields (+700), Adrian Martinez (+800) and Jalen Hurts (+800).

Tua was a finalist last year and had most of the momentum during the season, only to see Murray rally late to win the trophy. In his sophomore season for Alabama, he threw for 3,966 yards and 43 touchdowns with six interceptions. A lot of that was done in just first halves of play as Bama took big leads and put in Jalen Hurts for the second half. Tua should be improved with another offseason and will likely lead another powerful Bama offense.

Lawrence had a respectable freshman regular season for Clemson, but then really turned heads as he dominated in the playoffs, leading the Tigers to the national championship with 347 yards and three touchdowns in the title game. For the season, he threw for 3,280 yards and 30 touchdowns with just four interceptions.

Fields takes over the starting QB spot for Ohio State. He saw limited action as a freshman, sitting behind another Heisman finalist in Dwayne Haskins. Fields threw for 328 yards and four touchdowns on 27 of 39 passing. Ohio State quarterbacks have been tremendously productive in the Urban Meyer-era, but they will have a question mark now with a new head coach in Ryan Day.

Adrian Martinez made his freshman debut last season with Nebraska under new coach Scott Frost. Like the team, Martinez struggled early, but really came on late as the Huskers won four of their last six games. He finished the season with 2,617 yards and 17 touchdowns with eight interceptions while also rushed for 629 yards and eight touchdowns.

Hurts is the former Alabama quarterback that is now a grad transfer over to Oklahoma where he will replace Murray, who replaced Heisman winner Baker Mayfield. Hurts has thrown for over 5,000 yards with 48 touchdowns in his college career. He also has rushed for nearly 2,000 yards and 23 touchdowns.
