Golson took part in Notre Dame’s first spring practice Monday morning and is likely to be the starting quarterback heading into the 2014 season for the Fighting Irish.
“I want to say surreal in a sense,” Golson told ESPN.com following the practice “I felt accomplished for a split moment, that I went through what I went through and now I’m back and I’m moving forward now and still continuing that process of trying to grind and be better.”
Golson missed last season following an academic suspension, which forced Notre Dame to go with Tommy Rees as the starting quarterback last season. The Irish, who reached the BCS Championship Game two years ago, went just 9-4 last season.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Notre Dame has been given 40/1 odds to win the 2015 College Football FBS Championship. Florida State is the favorite with 4/1 odds while Alabama has 6/1 odds to win.
The 2014 College Football season gets started on Aug. 30 for Notre Dame when the Fighting Irish hosts Rice at 3:30 p.m. The next week the Irish will host Michigan.
