2016-17 CFB National Title Opening Odds
After winning its fourth national championship since 2009, Alabama has opened as the favorite to repeat as title winners for the 2016-17 season.
According to the Westgate Superbook, the Crimson Tide are 6/1 to win next season's national championship, which makes Alabama the favorites to repeat next year. This year's runner-up, Clemson, has the next best odds to win the title next season at 7/1. Oklahoma, the team that Clemson knocked off in this year's semi-finals, is also 7/1.
A few teams with comparable odds are Ohio State at 10/1, Baylor at 12/1, and Notre Dame, Florida State, Tennessee, LSU and Michigan at 15/1, respectively. Michigan State, Michigan, and Stanford are all 20/1, respectively.
At this point the only thing that would cause Alabama's odds to drop is if 1) Nick Saban heads to the NFL or 2) the program is punished for some unforeseen reason. But with Saban intact, the Crimson Tide has overcome players jetting to the NFL, changes to its coaching staff, and perceived limitations at certain positions (such as quarterback). But in the end, 'Bama always emerges as a favorite in college football.
