Gallman to have big game?
Wayne Gallman may not be getting the attention he deserves heading into tonight’s championship game but could he spark Clemson to a win over Alabama.
According to oddsmakers at RealBets, Alabama is favored in this championship game, as the Crimson Tide are getting odds of -6.5 points against Clemson. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 50.5 points. These two meet tonight at 8:30PM ET on ESPN from University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, AZ.
Clemson (14-0, 7-7 ATS) certainly seems to go off what Deshaun Watson does at quarterback, but Gallman has been a major force for the Tigers, rushing for 1,482 yards and 12 touchdowns this season. Gallman has a great test today against Alabama (13-1, 8-6 ATS) which has the nation’s top run defense, allowing just 70.8 yards per game. Clemson sees that as a challenge it is ready to take on, as the Tigers have run for over 200 yards per game in 2015.
Oddsmakers don’t expect Gallman to have too much success in this game, as his over/under for rushing yards has been set at 67.5 and his odds to score a touchdown are listed at +105. Gallman has been on a real tear, rushing for over 100 yards in six of his last seven games. He put up 187 yards and a TD in the ACC Championship win over UNC and then had 150 yards and two scores in the semifinal win over Oklahoma. He has only been held to less than 68 yards in two games this season, against Boston College and Syracuse. BC ranks second to Alabama in run defense. Still, with Watson’s ability to run, Alabama will have to respect two rushing options and Gallman could break some big runs if Watson can keep the Tide guessing.
