Title Game Point Spread Holding Steady
The point spread for Monday's college football national playoff championship between Clemson and Alabama is holding steady heading into the weekend.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Crimson Tide remain a 6.5-point favorite over the Tigers while the over/under has dropped to 51. The total opened as a high as 54 at some books, so that number has been bet down a full field goal with still four full days of betting remaining.
Alabama, meanwhile, opened as a touchdown-sized favorite over Clemson and immediately the line was bet down to 6.5. That's where it has remained throughout the week, but I'll be interesting to see if there's any movement over the weekend and leading up to kickoff at 8:00PM ET on Monday night.
In Vegas the line has stayed steady as well. Alabama actually opened as a 6-point favorite at some Vegas books but Westgate Superbook, William Hill and Wynn LV all currently have the Crimson Tide at -6.5. The MGM Mirage is still offering Clemson as a 7-point underdog so if you like the Tigers, that's the spot to go to in Vegas.
The Crimson Tide are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games against ACC opponents and have covered in seven of their last nine games, including as a 13.5-point favorite last Saturday against Washington in the semi-finals game. As for the Tigers, they're a perfect 6-0 against the spread in their last six bowl games, are 5-2 against the number in their last seven non-conference games, but are just 2-5 ATS in their last seven games versus an opponent with a winning record.
