Wake Forest vs. North Carolina Pick

Wake Forest vs. North Carolina College Basketball Predictions 12/30/17

No. 13 North Carolina opens up ACC play today at Noon ET when it hosts Wake Forest. Can the Tar Heels cover?

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, North Carolina is the heavy favorite in this game, as the Tar Heels are getting odds of -16 points against Wake Forest. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 162.5 points. Today’s game takes place from the Dean E. Smith Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and will air live on ESPN2.

Wake Forest had a six-game win streak ended by Tennessee last week. The Demon Deacons are now 7-5 overall. They have failed to cover in their last two and are 4-5-1 against the spread on the year. Wake is averaging 78.7 points per game on offense while allowing 72.6 per contest. Keyshawn Woods is leading the team with 16 points per game while Bryant Crawford is adding 15.3 points and 4.7 assists per contest.

North Carolina had a surprising loss to Wofford on Dec. 20, but followed that up with an 86-72 win over Ohio State last week. The Tar Heels are now 11-2 on the season while posting an 8-4 record against the spread. They have covered in four of their last five games. UNC is averaging 86.2 points per game on offense while giving up just 71.9 per contest. Luke Maye is leading UNC with 18.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per contest while Joel Berry II is adding 17.3 points per game.

Bet on Wake Forest vs. North Carolina

North Carolina has won four straight meetings with Wake Forest, but the Demon Deacons have covered the spread in the last two meetings. Wake is just 1-4 against the spread in its last five road games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five after a loss. UNC is 28-11-2 ATS in their last 41 home games. Despite the setback against Wofford, I don’t see the Heels taking a step back in the ACC opener at home. The public betting is backing Wake Forest today, but I am sticking with UNC at home.
