UCLA vs. Oregon State Pick
After an upset loss at Oregon earlier this week, will No. 2 UCLA bounce back tonight when it heads to Oregon State at 11PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, UCLA is the clear favorite in this game, as the Bruins are getting odds of -20.5 points against the Beavers. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 149.5 points. Oregon State won one of two meetings with UCLA last season and the Beavers have covered in six of their last eight against the Bruins.
UCLA suffered its first loss of the year on Wednesday, falling to Oregon 89-87 despite holding an 8-point lead in the second half. UCLA is now 13-1 overall and 10-4 against the spread. They still put up a high offensive number, averaging 95.1 points per game while giving up 75.1 points per contest on defense. TJ Leaf is averaging 17.2 points and 8.9 rebounds per game to lead the Bruins while Bryce Alford is posting 16.6 points per contest.
Oregon State opened up P-12 play on Wednesday with a 70-63 loss to USC at home to drop to 4-10 on the season. The Beavers covered in the loss and are now 4-8 against the spread. Oregon State allows only 67.5 points per game on defense, but the offense is averaging just 66.5 points per game. The Beavers have been without leading scorer Tres Tinkle for some time due to a wrist injury. He was putting up 20.2 points per game this year. Stephen Thompson Jr. is now leading the team with 15.4points and 4.9 rebounds per game.
UCLA should be motivated tonight coming off a tough loss on the road in a game that they had control of. Oregon State doesn’t have the talent to compete with UCLA and the Bruins should be able to make that clear early and often. I like UCLA to bounce back and put up a big win over the Beavers.
