Bettors love WVU to cover vs. VA Tech
Bettors aren't showing concern over laying nearly 8 points on West Virginia as a road favorite today versus Virginia Tech.
The two teams will clash at 12:00PM ET at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Virginia. According to oddsmakers from online sports book RealBet.eu, the Mountaineers are a 7.5-point road favorite to beat the Hokies while the over/under is sitting at 145 points. There has been no line movement on either the side or total as of this writing.
A whopping 77% of bettors are currently backing West Virginia to cover the 7.5 points. The Mountaineers have been a decent play this season, covering the spread in five of their eight lined games to start the year. They're also winning by an average margin of 25.9 points in those lined games, so it's easy to see why bettors are pounding West Virginia at the betting window.
On the other side, the Hokies are just 2-4 against the spread despite winning their games by an average margin of 11.5 points. They will be without 6-6 freshman guard Chris Clarke (10.5 points, 7.4 rebounds), who suffered a foot injury and is out indefinitely. If they're going to pull off the upset today, VA Tech needs to be much better at the free throw line, as the Hokies are making only 65.5% of their opportunities from the charity stripe.
