UCLA vs. Oregon Prediction
Can No. 2 UCLA go on the road and cover as a favorite against No. 21 Oregon tonight at 9PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, UCLA is favored on the road today, as the Bruins are getting odds of -2.5 points against the Ducks. The over/under total for the game is listed at 161 points. Oregon has won and covered the spread in three of its last four meetings with UCLA, including both meetings last season.
UCLA comes into tonight’s game at a perfect 13-0 on the year and 10-3 against the spread. The Bruins had covered in 10 straight prior to a 14-point win over Western Michigan a week ago. UCLA has one of the top offenses in the country, as the Bruins are putting up 95.8 points per game this season while shooting 55 percent from the field and 42.8 percent from 3-point land. TJ Leaf is leading the offense with 17.5points and 9.2 rebounds per game. Five other Bruins are also averaging double figures in scoring this season.
Oregon has won nine straight to move to 11-2 on the season, but the Ducks are just 4-8 against the spread this year. They have been beating up on some lesser talent over the past few weeks but have a big step up in competition tonight. Oregon is averaging 78.3 points per game on offense while the defense is giving up 63.2 points per game. Chris Boucher is averaging 14.1 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.2 blocks per game to lead Oregon, but he is listed as questionable for tonight’s game with an ankle injury. The Ducks have four others averaging double figures in scoring.
Oregon is a perfect 8-0 at home this year and UCLA is playing in only its second true road game. However, the first was at Kentucky, where the Bruins got a big victory. Oregon is tough at home, but their top player is hurting and the Ducks haven’t faced an offense like this recently. The Ducks should be overwhelmed by this UCLA team.
