Cougars ease past Yellow Jackets

Houston earned a 70-59 victory over Georgia Tech Monday night in the semifinals of the Diamond Head Class to improve to 9-3 on the season. The Cougars led 43-32 at halftime on their way to the win. Quentin Grimes led Houston with 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting including 2-of-5 from 3-point distance plus 4-of-9 at the free throw line. He also grabbed five rebounds. Fabian White Jr. tallied 15 points, 12 boards and two assists. Caleb Mills added 12 points, three caroms and three assists.

Huskies down Rainbow Warriors

Washington down tournament host Hawaii Monday night by a score of 72-61 in the semifinals of the Diamond Head Classic. The Huskies (10-2) jumped out to a 37-22 halftime advantage en route to the triumph. Isaiah Stewart led Washington with 26 points on 13-of-21 shooting. He also ripped down 13 rebounds. Quade Green accounted for 11 points, seven assists and two boards. Nahziah Carter added 10 points, five caroms, two assists and two steals.

College Basketball Betting Trends

The Cougars are 4-1 ATS in their last five neutral site games. The under is 5-2 in the last seven Houston games.

The Huskies are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall. The over is 4-1 in the last five Washington games overall.

The Huskies might be the ranked team, but Houston might actually be the better squad. This is a very tightly contested game in terms of talent, but the Cougars are more efficient offensively and are capable defensively even if not the better team on that end in this matchup. As long as Houston can solve the Washington defense enough, and I believe it will, I think it takes home the tournament title.
