Gamecocks ease past Tigers

South Carolina picked up a 67-54 victory last Sunday at Clemson to improve to 7-4 overall and 2-0 on the road. The Gamecocks outscored the Tigers 39-28 in the second half to secure the win. A.J. Lawson paced South Carolina with 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting including 4-of-7 at the free throw line. He also registered six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Maik Kotsar accounted for 11 points, seven boards and two assists. Jair Bolden added 10 points, three caroms, three assists and two steals.

Cavs down Seawolves

Virginia picked up a 56-44 home win Wednesday night over Stony Brook to move to 9-1 overall and 6-0 at home. The Cavaliers led 28-21 at halftime on their way to the win. Kihei Clark led Virginia with 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting including 2-of-4 from 3-point range plus 2-of-2 at the free throw line. He also tallied six assists and five rebounds. Mamadi Diakite accounted for 13 points, six boards and two blocked shots. Jay Huff added 12 points and seven caroms off the benh.

South Caroina

The Gamecocks are 7-3 ATs in their last 10 Sunday games. South Carolina is 2-6 ATS in its last eight games overall.

The Cavaliers are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games. Virginia is 1-7 ATS in its last eight games overall.

South Carolina only has one win over a top 100 team and only one victory over a top 200 squad. That was the victory over Clemson, an in-state rival going through its own struggles. Simply stated, I don't trust the Gamecocks here. Virginia hasn't been covering spreads lately, but has the best defense in the nation and faces a team that struggles on the offensive end. I see the formula here for a home cover.
