Zips roll past Tennessee State

Akron secured an 82-60 home win Tuesday night over Tennessee State to improve to 7-4 on the season. Loren Cristian Jackson paced the Zips with 23 points on 6-of-14 shooting including 4-of-8 from 3-point distance and 7-of-9 at the charity stripe. Jimond Ivey tallied 19 points, sevebn rebounds and three assists. Daniel Utomi added 18 points, five boards, three dimes and two steals. Akron shot 26-of-54 from the floor including 13-of-29 from 3-point range.

Wolfpack hold off SDSU

Nevada moved to 11-0 this season with a 72-68 home victory over San Diego State last Saturday. Jordan Caroline led the Wolfpack with 21 points on 6-of-14 shooting including 3-of-6 from 3-point distance plus nine rebounds. Caleb Martin contributed 20 points, five assists, four boards and three steals. Cody Martin had 12 points, six rebounds and six assists. Trey Porter added 12 points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots. Nevada outscored the visitors 39-28 in the second half to rally for the victory. Nevada shot 22-of-65 from the floor including 10-of-39 from 3-point range.

Prediction:

The Wolfpack have been awesome at home and I don't think that changes today. While the Zips are good, I don't see them hanging in there against such a talented and experienced team on the road. Look for Nevada to wear down the Zips and eventually overwhelm them. Expect the week off the help refresh the Wolfpack.
