Eagles win third straight
Eastern Washington cruised to a 97-56 victory at home Tuesday night over Omaha to improve to 7-3 overall and 5-0 at home. Kim Aiken Jr. led the way for the Eagles with 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting including 5-of-9 from 3-point distance. He also brought down 10 rebounds. Mason Peatling tallied 19 points, 12 boards, four assists and two blocked shots. Jacob Davison contributed 12 points and six dimes. Ellis Magnuson added 10 points, seven assists, four caroms and two steals. Eastern Washington led 49-28 at halftime en route to the win.
Zags topple Tar Heels
Gonzaga earned a 94-81 home win Wednesday night over North Carolina to move to 12-1 overall and 7-0 at home. Corey Kispert led the Bulldogs with 26 points on 10-of-12 shooting including 5-of-6 from 3-point range plus 1-of-1 at the charity stripe. He also tallied three rebounds and two steals. Filip Petrusev accounted for 20 points, four boards and three assists. Joel Ayayi contributed 11 points, 10 caroms, six dimes and three steals. Ryan Woolridge had 11 points, nine assists and four rebounds. Admon Gilder added 11 points, two boards, two assists and two steals. The Zags led 44-37 at halftime and continued to pull away after the break.
College Basketball Betting Trends
The Eagles are 6-0 ATS in their last six games overall. Eastern Washington is 4-1 ATS in their last five road games.
The Bulldogs are 5-2 ATS in their last seven Saturday games. The home team is 5-2-1 ATS in the last eight meetings.
After a tough stretch with five of six opponents being in the top 50, Gonzaga has a lull in its schedule with no top 100 opponents for another four weeks. The question here is whether the Bulldogs have a bit of a letdown against an Eagles squad that has competed pretty well against the likes of Belmont and Washington. The Eagles are decent offensively and play at a hyper-fast pace. I think this is a good spot for Eastern Washington with Gonzaga perhaps taking its foot off the gas pedal after such a tough recent schedule.
