Spartans dominate Golden Grizzlies

Michigan State cruised to a 72-49 victory Saturday afternoon at Oakland to improve to 7-3 on the season. The Spartans led 34-19 at halftime on their wy to the win. Aaron Henry paced a balanced MSU scoring attack with 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting including 2-of-5 from 3-point range. He also contributed six assists and two rebounds. Xavier Tillman registered nine points, 13 boards, three assists and two blocked shots. Gabe Brown added nine points and six caroms.

Wildcats cruise past Cougars

Northwestern earned a 72-54 home win Sunday over SIU-Edwardsville to move to 5-4 overall and 3-2 at home. The Wildcats outscored the Cougars 41-29 in the second half to pull away. Ryan Young led Northwestern with 25 points on 11-of-15 shooting plus 3-of-7 at the charity stripe. He also accounted for 12 rebounds, four assists and two steals. Pat Spencer tallied 15 points, four boards, four dimes and four steals. Anthony Gaines added 13 points, four caroms and two assists.

College Basketball Trends

Michigan State

The Spartans are 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall. Michigan State is 1-6 ATS in its last seven Wednesday games.

The Wildcats are 7-20-1 ATS in their last 28 games overall. Northwestern is 1-4 ATS in its last five home games.

Michigan State has only had one true road game this season, although the victory at Oakland was also in the opponent's home arena even though it was considered neutral. The Spartans beat Seton Hall on the road and now face a Wildcats squad just outside the top 100. Northwestern has been inconsistent this season, but has had its moments and is fairly strong defensively. This is a lot of points to cover on the road for Michigan State team that has yet to peak and I'd rather put my money on a Wildcats team that would love to put a scare into the ranked opposition.
