Cincinnati eased to a 62-47 home victory last Saturday over rival Xavier to win its ninth consecutive game following a season-opening defeat. Jarron Cumberland paced the Bearcats with 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting plus four rebounds, four assists and two steals. Keith Williams contributed 16 points, four boards and two blocked shots. Tre Scott added 10 points and 10 rebounds. Cincinnati outscored Xavier 34-25 in the second half and held the Musketeers to 18-of-51 shooting.
Bulldogs post win over Clemson
Mississippi State improved to 9-1 on the season last Saturday with an 82-71 victory over Clemson in the Never Forget Tribute Classic. Lamar Peters had a big game with 28 points on 9-of-13 shooting including 8-of-11 from 3-point distance. Quinndary Weatherspoon tallied 20 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Aric Holman added 16 points and six caroms. The Bulldogs shot 28-of-52 from the floor including a red-hot 19-of-30 from 3-point range.
