Tigers win sixth in a row
Memphis secured a 65-57 victory last Saturday at Alabama-Birmingham to improve to 8-1 overall and 1-0 on the road. The Tigers rallied back from a big deficit as they outscored the Blazers 39-17 in the second half. Precious Achiuwa paced Memphis with 14 points on 5-of-14 shooting plus 4-of-6 at the free throw line. He also registered 11 rebounds, three blocked shots and two steals. D.J. Jeffries racked up 10 points, four boards, two assists and two steals. Alex Lomax added 10 points, three assists and two caroms off the bench.
Vols blow out Rattlers
Tennessee raced to a 72-43 home win Wednesday night over Florida A&M to move to 7-1 overall and 5-0 at home. John Fulkerson led the Volunteers with 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting plus 1-of-2 at the free throw line. He also notched five rebounds. Yves Pons contributed 14 points, seven boards and two steals. Olivier Nkamhoua tallied 11 points, 13 caroms and two blocked shots off the bench. Lamonte Turner had 10 points, six assists, three steals and two rebounds. Josiah-Jordan James added 10 points, four boards and two assists.
College Basketball Betting Trends
Memphis
The Tigers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following an ATS loss. The underdog is 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings.
Tennessee
The Volunteers are 4-1 ATS in their last five Saturday games. Tennessee is 3-7 ATS in its last 10 home games.
Prediction:
The Tigers struggled in their first true road game at UAB for exactly one half and it won’t be as forgiving today in Knoxville if anything similar happens. The Volunteers have won all their home games by double digits and with the way they are playing overall, I like them to cover this spread as the favorites against a Memphis squad that is without its best player due to NCAA suspension.
