Michigan vs. UCLA Prediction
Following last week’s big win at Kentucky, is No. 2 UCLA due for a letdown today when it hosts Michigan at 8PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, UCLA is favored at home in tonight’s game, as the Bruins are getting odds of -9.5 points against Michigan. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 150.5 points. Michigan has won and covered the spread in the last two meetings with UCLA, but their last encounter was back in 2011.
UCLA is off to a 9-0 start thanks to an impressive 97-92 win at Kentucky last Saturday. The Wildcats haven’t seen action since then, taking a week off. The Bruins are also 7-2 against the spread this season, while going 3-2 ATS at home. However, they have covered in six straight. UCLA is putting up big numbers on offense, averaging 97 points per game while shooting 55 percent from the floor. Defensively, UCLA is giving up 75 points per game. Six players are averaging double figures for UCLA. Isaac Hamilton is leading the way with 18.1 points per game while TJ Leaf is averaging 17.2 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.
Michigan is coming off a 53-50 win over Texas at home earlier this week. The Wolverines are now 7-2 on the season and just 2-4 against the spread. Michigan has shown flashes of strong play and flashes of being a poor team. They average just 69.2 points per game on offense while giving up only 58.2 points per game on defense. Zak Irvin is leading Michigan’s charge with 13.6 points per game. Derrick Walton Jr. is adding 12.1 points per game.
There is a chance that UCLA could have a letdown today, but the Bruins have had a week to digest the big win over Kentucky and should be ready to build on it. Michigan doesn’t have the firepower to keep up with this team and the spread is relatively light considering the drastic contrast in scoring ability between the two teams. Look for UCLA to get into a track meet at home and fly past the Wolverines.
