Public Betting Trends

According to oddsmakers at BetNow.eu, Mississippi State is favored in this game, as the Bulldogs are getting odds of -3 points against Clemson. The over/under total is listed at 137 points. The public betting currently has 75 percent going on Kentucky as the favorite. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our College Basketball Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.

Bulldogs on win streak

Mississippi State is on a four-game win streak entering today’s game, including a 90-77 win over McNeese State on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are 7-1 overall, 3-5 against the spread and 5-3 with the under. They have covered in just one of their last five.

The Bulldogs have been led by their defense thus far, holding opponents to just 63.2 points per game. On offense, Mississippi State is putting up 77.8 points per contest while shooting 78.1 percent from the charity stripe. Quinndary Weatherspoon is leading State with 16.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per game while Lamar Peters is adding 12.4 points and 5.8 assists per contest.

Clemson seeking big win

The Tigers are coming off a 65-60 win over St. Peter’s to put an end to a two-game losing streak. Clemson is now 6-2 on the season, 1-7 against the spread and 5-3 with the under.

Clemson is pretty solid on defense as well, allowing just 65.4 points per game this year while also giving up just 26.1 rebounds per game. On offense, the Tigers average 74.2 points per game while shooting 48.6 percent from the floor. Marcquise Reed is leading the team with 19.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. However, he is questionable to play today due to a knee injury. Elijah Thomas is adding 11.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

College Basketball Betting Trends

Mississippi State

The Bulldogs are 2-7 against the spread in their last 9 against ACC opponents and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six on a neutral site.

Clemson

Clemson has covered the spread in seven straight against SEC opponents and is 7-2 ATS in its last nine neutral site games.

Prediction:

Neither team has been terribly impressive thus far, but Clemson has played a little better competition. The Tigers did cover in their lone game against the SEC, beating Georgia by 15 a few weeks ago. Mississippi State has won, but it isn’t covering and it faces a team that actually has some capability of making the NCAA Tournament. I expect the Tigers to rise up as an underdog for the first time this season.

College Basketball Prediction: Clemson +3
