Howard vs. Georgetown Pick
Can Georgetown continue its unbeaten season tonight and pick up a lopsided win over Howard when the two meet at 8:30PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Georgetown is favored at home, as the Hoyas are getting odds of -20.5 points against Howard. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 152.5 points. Tonight’s game will take place from Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. and air live on FS1.
Georgetown is off to a 6-0 start to the season following a 76-60 win over Coppin State last weekend. The Hoyas are just 1-2 against the spread as their schedule has been lacking in much competition to this point. Georgetown is putting up 82 points per game this season while giving up only 62.2 per contest. The Hoyas are being led by Jessie Govan, who is averaging 19.8 points and 12.2 rebounds per game. Marcus Derrickson is adding 14 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest.
Howard is coming off an 81-68 loss at home to Penn to fall to 1-8 on the season. The Bison are 1-0 against the spread, covering in their only lined game at Indiana. Howard is averaging 67.5 points per game on offense while allowing 84.4 per game thus far on defense. R.J. Cole is leading the team with 19.6 points and 6.2 assists per game while Charles Williams is adding 17 points and 3.6 rebounds per contest.
Georgetown has won its last eight meetings in this series, but only the last meeting had a spread and Howard managed to cover it. Neither team has really faced great competition, but Howard seems to have played the tougher teams. I think that comes into play tonight as Georgetown has not covered well against the poor competition it has faced. The public betting is strong with Georgetown, but I think the Hoyas are giving up too many points tonight.
