Paladins fall at Bulls

Furman lost by a score of 65-55 Monday night at South Florida to drop to 7-2 on the season and 3-2 on the road. The Paladins trailed 34-27 at halftime and were unable to recover. Noah Gurley paced Furman with 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting including 3-of-4 from 3-point range plus 2-of-2 at the free throw line. He also recorded three rebounds and three assists. Clay Mounce added 14 points, 12 boards, three steals and two assists.

Tigers win Legends Classic

Auburn downed Richmond by a score of 79-65 Tuesday night in the championship game of the Legends Classic in Brooklyn. The Tigers (7-0) outscored the Spiders 45-30 in the second half to secure the win. Samir Doughty led Auburn with 22 points on 7-of-16 shooting including 2-of-6 from 3-point distance plus 6-of-8 at the charity stripe. He also dished out three assists. Austin Wiley tallied 18 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots. Danjel Purifoy added 13 points and nine boards.

The Paladins are a solid team despite their result earlier this week, which came down to poor shooting from their best players. Look for them to keep up with Auburn at least long enough to stay within the number here. The Tigers are a very good offensive team, but can have occasional defensive lapses. As long as Furman shoot better than it did two nights ago, it should be in good shape.
