Wildcats solve Bulldogs

Villanova picked up an 83-76 victory Saturday over Mississippi State in the Myrtle Beach Invitational to improve to 4-1 on the season. The Wildcats led 42-33 at halftime en route to the win. Jeremiah Robinson-Earl paced Villanova with 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting including 1-of-1 from 3-point distance plus 3-of-4 at the free throw line. He also recorded seven rebounds and three assists. Collin Gillespie tallied 19 points, nine assists, two boards and two steals. Saddiq Bey accounted for 17 points, seven caroms, three assists and two blocked shots. Jermaine Samuels added 14 points, five rebounds and two assists.

Bears roll past Chanticleers

Baylor earned a 77-65 win over Coastal Carolina Saturday in the Myrtle Beach Invitational to move to 4-1 on the season. The Bears outscored the Chanticleers 40-26 in the second half to put it away. MaCio Teague led Baylor with 21 points on 6-of-10 shooting including 3-of-10 from 3-point range plus 6-of-6 at the free throw line. He also had two rebounds and two assists. Davion Mitchell accounted for 15 points, six dimes, three steals and two boards. Jared Butler contributed 12 points and three assists. Mark Vital added 10 points, nine caroms, three steals and two assists off the bench.

College Basketball Betting Trends

The Wildcats are 7-0 ATS in their last seven games versus the Big 12. Villanova is 42-17-1 ATS in its last 60 non-conference games.

The Bears are 5-1 ATS against the Big East. Baylor is 4-1 ATS in its last five neutral site games.

Both of these teams have lost in their toughest test so far this season while the rest of their opponents were relatively soft. This contest feels like relatively a tossup but while the Wildcats are the more efficient offensive team, I see Baylor as stronger defensively and I think that could be the difference here in the game's last few possessions. Look for the Bears to get timely stops down the stretch and get this win.
