Bulls upended in OT
South Florida fell 100-96 in overtime at DePaul Wednesday night to even the best-of-three CBI series at a game apiece. The Bulls (23-14) rallied in the second half by outscoring the Bulls 47-36, but were then outscored 18-14 in overtime to come up short. South Florida shot 34-of-73 from the field, 13-of-34 from 3-point distance plus 15-of-19 at the free throw line. LaQuincy Rideau paced the Bulls with 35 points on 11-of-17 shooting including 7-of-8 from 3-point range plus 6-of-8 at the free throw line. He also notched eight assists, four steals and three rebounds. Alexis Yetna accounted for 26 points and 13 boards. Justin Brown accounted for 13 points, three caroms and two dimes. David Collins added 12 points, six assists and three rebounds.
Strus guides Blue Demons to win
DePaul prevailed 100-96 in a must-win situation Wednesday night in the CBI best-of-three series as Max Strus led the way with 32 points. The Blue Demons (19-16) led 46-35 at halftime before South Florida rallied back and the contest ended regulation at 82-82. DePaul shot 36-of-72 from the field, 7-of-22 from 3-point range plus 21-of-27 at the charity stripe. Strus shot 11-of-26 from the floor, 6-of-14 from 3-point land plus 4-of-4 at the free throw line. College Basketball Betting Trends
South Florida
The Bulls are 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings in DePaul. South Florida is 10-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall.
DePaul
The favorite is 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings. DePaul is 0-4 ATS in its last four games overall.
Prediction:
Only one of the 10 combined games South Florida and DePaul have played in the CBI has been decided by double digits. South Florida won the first game of the best-of-three by a 63-61 count on its home court, while the other contest was decided in OT. So look for another very close contest tonight. South Florida has had a lot of success against DePaul over the years and I think they are the slightly better squad here. The Bulls are the much better defensive team and while the Blue Demons have the major edge offensively, expect this game to come down to defensive stops. I expect South Florida to get more stops when it matters in crunch time.
