NCAA Title Game Over/Under Prediction
Will tonight's Gonzaga and North Carolina NCAA championship game at 9:20PM ET be high-scoring for bettors?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the over/under for tonight's title game currently sits at 153.5 after opening at 154.5. As for the point spread, North Carolina hit the board at -2 but that line was bet down a half-point to 1.5.
The Bulldogs went through South Dakota State, Northwestern, West Virginia, Xavier and red-hot South Carolina to advance to tonight's national championship game. They were rough on bettors who backed them, posting a 1-3-1 record against the spread in those five games, while the under cashed in five of those contests.
As for the Tar Heels, they got through Texas Southern, Arkansas, Butler, Kentucky and Oregon to land back in the championship game after losing last year to Villanova. North Carolina was better against the spread than Gonzaga, but was just 2-2-1 against the number in its five games. The over hit in three of their five NCAA tournament contests this year.
OUR PREDICTION: The over has hit in six of the Bulldogs' last seven NCAA tournament games as an underdog and is 7-2 in the Tar Heels' last nine NCAA tournament games. The over is also 6-1 in North Carolina's last seven NCAA tournament games when favored between 0.5 and 6.5 points and has cashed in 10 of the team's last 14 neutral site games as a favorite. Even though Gonzaga is No. 1 in defensive efficiency, these two teams can play an up-tempo game and if the two teams get into a shooting rhythm, then the combined score should go over the total.
NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP TOTAL PREDICTION: GONZAGA/NORTH CAROLINA OVER 153.5
