Arkansas Game Notes

Arkansas’s leading scorer is junior guard Ricky Council IV. The 6’6” Durham, NC native is averaging 16.1 points per game while shooting 43.6% from the field this season. He’s a volume scorer and will likely lead the Razorbacks in shot attempts on Thursday.

Razorbacks guard Anthony Black is a unique player. He’s 6’7” and 198 pounds and has averaged a nice stat line of 12.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals per game for Arkansas this season. His scoring and on-ball defense will likely be key to the outcome of this game.  

UConn Game Notes

UConn’s best player is junior forward Adama Sanogo. The 6’9” 245-pound Mali national is pouring in 17.3 points per game and pulling down 7.5 rebounds per game for the Huskies this year. He’s a dangerous scoring threat because he’s shooting well both from the field (60.5%) and the free throw line (78.2%) this season. 

The Huskies’ most important guard is sophomore Jordan Hawkins. Hawkins is leading UConn in three-pointers made this season with 95 and he’s converting his treys at a respectable 37.8% clip this year. He’ll likely have the chance to hit some triples if Arkansas decides to double-team the Huskies’ bigs in this contest. Whether he makes those shots or not could be the deciding factor in this game.
