Sweet 16 Odds

The first two rounds of the 2009 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament are in the books and now it’s time to focus on the Sweet 16.

Oddsmakers have released the odds for the Sweet 16 round of the 2009 March Madness Tournament, so let’s take a look.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.COM have established the Louisville Cardinals and the North Carolina Tar Heels as 7-2 favorites to win the tournament out of the final 16 teams. Louisville is fighting in the Midwest Region, while UNC is coming out of the West.

The teams with the next best odds to win this year’s March Madness Tournament are Pittsburgh at 11-2 and Connecticut and Memphis at 6-1. UCONN and Memphis could go toe to toe in the West Region, while PITT could eventually have its hands full with Duke (15-1) in the East Region.

If you prefer long shots, Arizona and Xavier are 50-1, while Purdue is 40-1 and Villanova is 20-1. A couple of midrange odds belong to Syracuse, Duke and Oklahoma, who are all 15-1.
