Colgate rolling along
The Raiders are riding an 11-game win streak coming into the tournament. The Patriot League champs have also covered in seven of their last nine games. Colgate is 24-10 on the season, 0-0 on a neutral floor, 18-14-1 against the spread and 20-12 with the over.
Colgate is a solid team on both sides of the floor. The Raiders are scoring 75.8 points per game while shooting 48 percent from the field and 38.8 percent from the arc. Defensively, Colgate is allowing 70 points per game while opponents shoot 43.4 percent against them. Rapolas Ivanauskas is leading the team with 16.4 points and 7.9 rebounds per game while Jordan Burns is putting up 15.8 points and 5.8 assists per contest.
Vols roughed up by Auburn
Tennessee suffered an 84-64 loss to Auburn in the SEC Tournament final last weekend, but it came a day after a grinder of a win over Kentucky. The Vols are 5-2 in their last seven and 4-2 against the spread in their last six. Tennessee is now 29-5 on the season, 4-2 on a neutral floor, 17-15-1 against the spread and 19-14 with the over.
The Vols are one of the top offenses in the country, scoring 81.8 points per game while shooting nearly 50 percent as a team. Defensively, Tennessee is giving up just 68.6 points per game while opponents shoot just 39.9 percent against them. Grant Williams is leading the team with 19 points and 7.6 rebounds per game while Admiral Schofield is adding 16.2 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest.
College Basketball Betting Trends
The Raiders are 8-0 against the spread in their last eight against winning teams and 7-2 ATS in their last nine following a win.
Tennessee is 4-1-1 against the spread in its last six NCAA Tournament games and 12-4 ATS in their last 16 following a double-digit loss.
While people are making a lot out of the performance against Auburn, I think that was a predictable letdown performance after a big win over Kentucky 24 hours earlier. Tennessee has the ability to win this whole tournament and coming off a loss like that might shake them into a good place this weekend. Tennessee will be out to make a statement and their balanced offensive attack should be too much for Colgate. The Raiders will be tough early, but I think Tennessee just slowly pulls away and covers this big spread.
College Basketball Prediction: Tennessee -17.5
